For those who want to look their best, there are plenty of options available. If fat reduction is the ultimate goal, again, you‘ll be overwhelmed by the sheer number of potential treatments that can provide the results you’re looking for.

Your first thought when it comes to fat reduction might be liposuction, but did you know many non-invasive procedures can provide you with satisfying results, too?

Two of the most popular nonsurgical fat reduction treatments are BodyFX and CoolSculpting. In this post, I compare the two and explain why BodyFX might be the best choice for your needs.

What is BodyFX?

Body FX is a cosmetic procedure used for fat reduction and body contouring. Combining radiofrequency energy and vacuum pressure, BodyFX distributes heat that causes fat cells to melt and skin to tighten.

It is the only non-invasive technology proven in peer-reviewed studies to both permanently kill fat cells as well as tighten the skin. Additionally, there is no downtime and minimal discomfort for patients.

What is CoolSculpting?

Following the discovery that the cooling of fat cells breaks them down without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue, CoolSculpting was created.

The procedure involves a machine being placed over the area that the patient has chosen to target and this applies a strong suction and freezes the fat cells. These fat cells break down over the course of the two to four months following the procedure.

Customizable treatment

BodyFX and CoolSculpting are both non-invasive, but BodyFX offers greater ability to tailor your treatment to the contour and shape you want for your body.

With BodyFX, the applicator pinpoints areas of treatment – following a consultation with the client, CoolSculpting is less targeted and removes fat in a general sense thus providing no option for custom body shaping or contouring.

No downtime

Following a CoolSculpting application, patients will experience mild bruising and it is common for the treated area to look swollen for up to one month. Possible longer-term complications of freezing skin include skin damage, scarring, and abrupt fat layer changes. Patients also frequently complain of long term pain for up to several months because of the intense freezing.

By opting for BodyFX, however, patients will benefit from no downtime with initial signs of redness and warmth in the are subsiding within a few hours.

Easy to fit into your schedule

BodyFX can fit into your busy lifestyle. In general, each BodyFX session takes around 20 minutes. Meanwhile, CoolSculpting generally takes around one hour for each treatment area.

With the speed of a BodyFX treatment, you can even pop in to have a session on your lunch break!

Less sagging skin

BodyFX is unique in that it offers both fat reduction and skin tightening. The radiofrequency used is multi-functional in that it removes fat cells and helps to tighten the skin, meaning patients aren’t left with saggy skin as a result of the loss of fat.

Conversely, the fat drop-off that can occur with CoolSculpting is often accompanied by loose, saggy skin. Many patients also get contour irregularities often described as a “dog bite hollow” in treated areas. This does not occur with BodyFx.
