Why Get a Chin Augmentation?
Chin augmentation is a straightforward procedure that can achieve impressive results.
Because of the chin’s influence on all of the other facial features, chin augmentation can create some of the most dramatic changes in a person’s appearance. It also helps bring balance to facial proportions of the upper face with a lower face.
For a procedure that takes just one hour and has little recovery time, chin augmentation sees big results in improving a patient’s self-confidence. It’s the ease and lasting results that have resulted in more people in Florida selecting chin augmentation as their treatment of choice.
So if you are conscious of your recessed/weak chin, or want to improve the definition of the neck and jawline, reduce the appearance of a full chin, or improve facial harmony, chin implants alone can help. Dr. Egozi provides beautiful results for your chin augmentation in Clearwater, so you’ll never feel self conscious taking a selfie again!

What is Chin Augmentation and How Does it Work?
Chin Augmentation, also known as chin enhancement and genioplasty, is a procedure used to achieve a natural aesthetically and balanced facial appearance
The chin is the foundation for the face, so an underdeveloped chin creates an imbalance that is out of proportion with the rest of the facial features. Chin augmentation helps to even out the aesthetics, creating strong facial symmetry by using an implant to increase the chin’s profile.
For someone sensitive about their appearance, chin augmentation can achieve a more defined contour of the chin to improve appearance.
Main Benefits of Receiving Chin Enhancements
- Addresses poor facial definition
- Creates a proportionate facial profile
- Projects the chin to create a symmetrical look
- Subtle and natural-looking appearance
- Restores an inner self-confidence
- Females will find that their facial features appear more harmonious and balanced
- Males emerge with a stronger, more chiseled jawline
- Fast surgery and an easy recovery period
Potential Risks of Receiving a Chin Augmentation
When performed by a qualified, trusted plastic surgeon, chin augmentation has very little complications. Infections are extremely infrequent and displacement of the implant can be prevented by avoiding pressure on the chin.
Like all surgical procedures, chin augmentation can come with some bruising that can take up to two weeks to settle. And patients can experience some numbness sensations around the chin and lower lip which will return to normal after a few weeks.
More serious complications like scarring and infection can be avoided by using an experienced chin augmentation surgeon like Dr. Egozi.
Dr. Egozi is a recognized Board Certified surgeon, accredited by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The doctor is also an ardent member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as the American Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Chin Augmentation Surgical Procedure
Chin augmentation is a straight forward surgical procedure performed in an outpatient setting using sedation.
Following a consultation with Dr. Egozi that will talk about individual needs and features, you will be booked in for your treatment.
Once under sedation, Dr. Egozi will make a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth (where the gum meets the lower lip). The surgeon then gently creates a space for the chin implant to fit around the chin bone.
The implant is made of synthetic material that, to the touch, is much like the natural tissue normally found in the chin. They come in a range of sizes and shapes – allowing for custom fitting to the patient’s facial structure and objective.
Once the implant is in place, fine stitches will close the incision.
All in all, chin implant surgery typically takes less than one hour to complete, but this is extended if you plan on having additional procedures to complement the chin augmentation.

Chin Augmentation & Recovery Process
The recovery process for chin augmentation is short and the majority of patients who use an experienced plastic surgery surgeon will return to regular daily activity within a day or two.
The mild discomfort that’s common in the days that follow the surgery are easily controlled with medication or cold compress. Chewing will likely be limited for the first day or two so a diet of liquids and soft foods is recommended during the first day.
Most patients return to work after a couple of days, but any strenuous activity should be avoided for at least three weeks.
These are general guidelines and individuals will respond differently. Before your treatment, Dr. Egozi will talk you through the process and clarify what you can expect during a consultation.

Are Chin Implants Permanent?
Chin implants are extremely strong and durable which are intended to be permanent. The aging process will affect other areas of your facial appearance, but your enhanced chin will not change.
However, in the years following the procedure, there is a slight risk that trauma and excessive pressure on the chin can damage or displace the implant. Should this occur, surgery is required to realign or replace the implant.
Can Chin Augmentations be Combined with Dermal Fillers?
Chin augmentation can be successfully enhanced with a range of other treatments including dermal fillers that help to fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance.
Rhinoplasty can also dramatically enhance the results of chin implants. Reshaping the nose with the defined chin leads to an even greater harmonious appearance. And for those with excess fat or sagging skin beneath the chin, a neck lift helps further improve jawline definition.
Does Chin Augmentation Improve Jawline?
A strong jawline is currently one of the most coveted appearance features. It is the foundation of youthfulness and envokes power and confidence in women.
One of the main benefits of chin augmentation is that it helps to strengthen and create a more defined jawline. This strong jawline enhances the contours, shape and balance of the face.
Which Procedures Are Commonly Paired with a Chin Augmentation?
While a chin augmentation is commonly done on its own, some patients pair it with a rhinoplasty to balance the proportions of their face with their new chin, a facelift or neck lift to reduce signs of aging, or liposuction around the double chin area to optimize their results.
Will a Chin Augmentation Change My Neck’s Appearance?
When the projection of your chin is increased, your neck can look more lean, defined, and youthful. A chin augmentation is often used in place of a neck lift, as the neck skin is distracted forward by the chin implant and there is more tightness around the jaw area.
How Does a Chin Implant Affect the Appearance of My Nose?
A larger nose can make a normal-sized chin look small, while a smaller chin can make a normal-sized nose look big. Patients who often come in for a rhinoplasty procedure also have issues regarding the appearance of their chin, so it is important to discuss your aesthetic concerns with Dr. Egozi during your consultation.
Can a Chin Implant Move?
Once you are fully healed after your chin augmentation, the implant will stay in position. In the early weeks after your surgery and before full healing, the implant can move out of position. However, this is very uncommon and can be quickly fixed by returning to the clinic so Dr. Egozi can put the implant back in position.
What Type of Incision Is Used for a Chin Augmentation?
A chin implant is inserted through an incision either made inside of the mouth or under the chin. Both scars are essentially invisible, and the “underneath the chin” incision gives Dr. Egozi a better visual perception of your chin augmentation results, along with experiencing less pain.
An incision inside the mouth involves working around the nerves that provide sensation to the lips, and requires close attention when it is healing as to prevent infection or stretch injury.
